Inge I M Venter
I have taught at secondary school level (pupils) and at Higher Education level (students) and currently develop and facilitate professional development in HE for lecturers. As academic advisers in Academic Development Services we have to be on the cutting edge of new developments in the HE environment to be able to convey its implications and present it to our lecturers at the North-West University in South Africa! My research is on self-regulation of learning and the acquisition of metacognition. For my PhD I interviewed some of the 2420 students whose completed a questionnaire on learning strategies and approaches.
My husband is an engineer in Potchefstroom - we met as students and he is still the love of my life! I am also the mother of three gifted, wonderful, independent, happy children. My eldest son Martin is a CA and CFA in Melbourne, my middle son is an agricultural economist but currently teaching English in Shenzhen, and my youngest daughter is a medical doctor in Bloemfontein. They are all happily married and I have one grandson, who is the apple of my eye.
