Andrea Dodo-Balu
I teach undergraduate classes designed to facilitate students’ effective transition into the university community by developing their understanding and mastery of the academic conventions of their disciplines. I have also taught academic and language skills to students preparing to enter university or secondary level education through alternative pathways and as international students. My diverse teaching experience encompasses private consultations, classroom tutorials, lecturing, and leading workshops, and includes face-to-face, online and blended modes of delivery. My research interests are in the areas of higher education teaching and learning, distance education, first year experience in higher education, and education policy. I focus on how higher education policies and practices impact on the experiences of both students and academic teaching staff involved in online learning and examine implications for access, equity and retention in higher education.
