Rowan Brookes
Rowan Brookes designs, implements and delivers innovative educational programs with heart. Her main focus is teaching leadership, communication and entrepreneurship to budding scientists. In her work she strives to apply the principle articulated by the poet W.B. Yeats that "education is not the filling of a pail. It is the lighting of a fire".
Rowan is skilled in the planning, design and implementation of online and face-to-face learning programs across higher education and registered training organisations.
Rowan currently works in the School of Biological Sciences, where she is the Course Coordinator of the Bachelor of Science Advanced (Global Challenges). In this degree she teaches her students the art and science of making a positive change in the world.
Her research interests centre around curriculum development, assessment, educational technology and leadership in science education.
