Renier Steyn
Renier Steyn worked for 18 years as a psychologist in the public service. He is presently a Professor at the Graduate School of Business Leadership at the University of South Africa (UNISA). He teaches in the field of human resources management and leadership. He obtained a PhD in Industrial and Personnel Psychology, a DLitt et Phil in Psychology, and a PhD in Business Administration. He is a registered research psychologist and was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior - situated at the University of California (UCLA). He was also a member of the UNISA International Fellowship Programme. His research interest is broad and he has published on topics ranging from substance abuse to post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as the validity of astrology. His most recent publications focus on gender issues and particularly gender differences. He has also done extensive research on HRM practices, and has a particular interest in performance management. He also supervised more than 60 students in completing their dissertations. He was named best researcher at the Graduate School of Business Leadership in 2013 and is the 2014 recipient of the Chancellors Prize for Excellence in Research.
