Ursula McGowan

I am an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Adelaide, following a career of 23 years as Academic Language and Learning Adviser and Academic Staff Developer. http://www.adelaide.edu.au/directory/ursula.mcgowan My major research interest is the relationship between academic integrity, academic writing and inadvertent plagiarism; in particular: o how students gain an understanding of evidence-based writing the University's research culture: o how they can learn ways of accelerating their own academic language development. See urls: http://www.adelaide.edu.au/learning/teaching/plagiarism/ and click on “Resources” tab; and http://www.adelaide.edu.au/writingcentre/articulate/avoidingPlagiarism/player.html I am currently undertaking a study towards a PhD, to research conditions under which a process of accelerating academic language development may be integrated into higher education curricula.
