Diane M Phillips

Diane Phillips Diane joined the University of Canberra (UC) after educational, research management and teaching roles in seven countries. Diane has a Masters in Educational Psychology and is currently undertaking a PhD in Exploring the Effects of Neoliberalism on Research Governance and Practice. In 2014, Diane has designed and implemented the new UC common first year transition to university unit, two Business Government and Law foundation units which introduce research, critical thinking, logic and argument to first year degree students and teaches creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in the management discipline. Diane has received three Dean’s awards for teaching excellence and in 2011, 2012 & 2013 she has also received a UC teaching citation for outstanding contribution to student learning in 2012 and has been nominated for two awards in 2014. Diane has a research led teaching philosophy and has strong contacts with industry for research and engagement in local, national and international communities. Diane believes that quality teaching is achieved through the delivery of: student centred; engaging; adaptive; world class; innovative courses. In addition, Diane has a strong work integrated learning and practice based philosophy and ensures that quality courses have curriculum that prepares students for immediate employment after their degree, but also through their ability to continue to learn, problem solve and question, so they will be ready for the jobs of the future. Diane’ units clearly link the assessment, unit and course learning outcomes and align these elements with the achievement of the generic graduate attributes. This approach will allows graduates the opportunity to obtain discipline knowledge, professional skills, intercultural competence and personal attributes to become leaders who will inspire change and deliver a sustainable future in a knowledge economy and digital age
