Preliminary early childhood teachers’ perceptions of educational community in Korea (#309)

 Distrust is growing between school-home in Korean early childhood education field due to multiple child abusing cases by day care teachers. From 2000s, researchers in the area of elementary and secondary education have been studying educational community in order to overcome severe mutual distrust between school members, school violence, and bullying, ultimately to make happier school. In order to make early childhood education institutes to be warm-hearted school community in the near future, what the university students intending to be early childhood teachers perceive of educational community is very important.

This study purposed to examine the perceptions of educational community of preliminary early childhood teachers. Total of 250 university students majoring in early childhood education answered questionnaire named "The Image and Perception of Educational Community". As results, the preliminary teachers have not much ideas of educational community, in spite of having much information about home-school partnerships. The discussion was focused on finding better ways of educating preliminary early childhood teachers in order to establish warm-hearted educational community.
